We are experiencing an unprecedented health crisis in our community due to COVID-19. Implementing the CDC recommendations to protect vulnerable individuals and at-risk for severe illness, including persons of any age with underlying health conditions including immune suppression, we have canceled ALL Play Groups including Story Alive have suspended or postponed these events for the month of March. These activities will tentatively resume April 7th.

A Step Ahead in Pierce County is one of the region’s most progressive organizations for children ages birth to three who have one or more developmental delays. We provide convenient, home-based therapy and educational services, including speech, physical and occupational therapies and special education.

Annabelle's Story

When the staff at A Step Ahead assessed 20-month-old Annabelle, she only knew five words, a moment her mom recalls as “devastating.”

Thanks to intensive therapy, she’s achieved significant progress. “She has a big vocabulary,” says her mother, Emily. “She’s walking and talking much better. And she’s now able to play and interact with other children, something she couldn’t do when we started.”
