An Early Intervention Program for infants and toddlers with special needs

A Step Ahead provides a variety of services to help children improve their developmental skills. Our services are provided at the child’s home or childcare using activities and strategies that are fun, playful, practical, and effective. We also offer an assortment of social events throughout the year to give children opportunities to play with peers and to practice skills in other locations such as parks, indoor playgrounds and the Children’s Museum.

Our team of therapists and special educators provide comprehensive developmental evaluations to examine each child’s unique strengths and needs and to determine eligibility for our services. If you have questions about your child’s development, or would like to make a referral, please call or email us at: (253)-471-2727 or .

A Step Ahead is a non-profit organization in Pierce County which serves infants and toddlers under the age of 3 with developmental delays as well as foster children who aren’t delayed but have social and emotional challenges. We provide therapy and special education services including occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy and infant mental health services. We serve primarily the Puyallup, Bethel, Franklin, Pierce, Tacoma, Orting and Eatonville school districts, although we will serve outside that area on a special case basis.
