Lawana graduated from Loma Linda University with a BS in Life Sciences and Master of Physical Therapy. She has extensive physical therapy experience and has specialized in working with children for the past 16 years.  Part of this time, she and her husband Michael, who is also a pediatric physical therapist, owned their own private pediatric business.  They contracted to provide early intervention services as well as school-based services in their local community.

Lawana and Michael have been married for 29 years. They both love being around children. They have 4 children ages 27, 25, 22 and 19, in addition to two little girls ages 8 and 9 that they adopted after being foster parents for several years. “Some people think that we are crazy starting over after our older kids were out of the house. But we just can’t help having a house without kids” Lawana states.

Lawana finds great satisfaction in helping kids grow and develop to their fullest potential. She wants to have a positive impact on all of the families that she serves and encourage those with difficult situations. Most kids just need a little bit of nudging to get them headed in the right direction to get caught up with their peers while others need significant intervention. Lawana enjoys the challenge of helping each child with their own unique set of circumstances. She appreciates the close bonds that she develops with the families and enjoys getting updates from kids that she no longer sees.

When Lawana is not at work, she is usually spending time with her family, camping, watching football, playing games, reading books, or going to church.
